About Us
Established more than 50 years ago as an affiliate of Holiday Inn Hotels, the award-winning 3.5 star Hotel Port aux Basques is a welcome sight to business and holiday travelers alike.
Cathy Lomond has owned the hotel since 1999. She and the hotel have won many awards for Excellence in Hospitality including the prestigious National Award for Tourism Excellence, Business of the Year, Restauranteur of the Year, and Accommodation of the Year.
As soon as you step into the lobby, you will experience the beauty and warmth that Cathy and her husband Terry, have created through their dedication, attention to detail and personal touches. They have decorated each room to create a unique and charming atmosphere for their guests. All work on the hotel, including the renovations, have been carried out by the Lomonds along with the Hotel's maintenance workers.
The hotel sells carvings, quilts, paintings and crafts by local artists and artisans. Pick up a souvenir of Newfoundland; perhaps a painting of the local lighthouse in Rose Blanche, or a carving made from moose antler or whale bone.
You will also meet with our courteous and friendly staff. We are always happy to be of service, and look forward to making new friends.
