Established 41 years ago as an affiliate of Holiday Inn Hotels, Hotel Port aux Basques has been a welcome site to travelers.

The present owner, Cathy Lomond, took over the Hotel in March of 1999. Ever since then, the hotel has been under constant renovations to update and modernize the facility. Aside from the basic changes, such as new paint, carpet, TV's, and beds, Mrs. Lomond has also added an Executive Suite, and two Junior Suites. As a convenience to our customers we have recently added a fitness centre and laundry facilities..

Hotel Port aux Basques is a Canada Select hotel, with a rating of three stars. We have a total of 47 rooms, plus the three suites, with designated smoking and non-smoking rooms. There is a restaurant and lounge on the premises, and two meeting rooms that can accommodate 125 people. We are located within a 5 minute walk of a cinema, mall, library, Lions Club, Buddy's Lounge, restaurants ( Pizza Delight, Tim Hortons, Subway, Mary Browns, Tia Hong) churches, hospital, walking trail, train center, Bruce II Sports Complex, and we are the closest accommodation to the Nova Scotia Ferry.

When you first walk into our lobby, you will experience the warmth and beauty that will make you feel welcome and at home. You will discover first hand the personal touches and dedication of Cathy Lomond, who, along with her husband Terry, is responsible for all decorating decisions, and even the actual maintenance work that is involved. Instead of contracting the work out, Mr. and Mrs. Lomond, along with the Hotel's maintenance workers, do all the construction work. We sell carvings and paintings by local artists. Pick up a souvenir of Newfoundland, either a painting of the local lighthouse in Rose Blanche, carvings made from moose antler or whale bone, and many more.
